Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence based therapy based on the psychological science of Behavior Analysis. ABA treatment is characterized by data collection, various teaching methods, and focus on increasing positive behaviors while decreasing behaviors that impacts the individuals ability to participate in daily routines through identification of replacement behaviors.
ABA has been identified as effective for a variety of individuals; however, At BB-ABA we specifically work with neurodiverse individuals, ages 3-18years.
Many insurance providers do require a doctor’s referral and formal diagnosis such as Autism or related developmental disability to access this service.
ABA can focus on a wide variety of skills such as Communication, Adaptive skills, Cognitive skills, and Impactful behavior support.
This may include skills such as Toilet training, Play-based learning, Teaching communication responses related to self advocacy or accessing general needs, working on social skills related to the client’s specific interest (e.g. peer relationships, dating skills), teaching skills to support safety/wellness (ie. street crossing, understanding stranger danger, hygiene skills etc), or skills related to future independence (eg. money management, accessing community transportation, meal prep etc)
Areas of support will be identified through direct consultation and through assessment during the initial evaluation process. Goals will be reviewed and agreed upon prior to implementation.
Direct services are provided in the home, community, or via Telehealth.
Parent consultation services are primarily provided in Office (410 W Bakerview Rd. Suite 110, Space 114 Bellingham, WA 98226) or via telehealth.
We currently are only providing in-person services in Whatcom county (Bellingham/Ferndale)
Telehealth services are available across Washington State
*Please note, Direct services (working with the child only) via telehealth are not approved by all funders and would need to be confirmed with your child’s insurance plan.
Professional services and consultations are provided via Telehealth or in the community if local.
Services are provided by licensed practitioners within the scope of Applied Behavior Analysis including Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT), Licensed Assistant Behavior Analyst (LaBA), and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Services are guided and overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) at all levels.
RBTs are only authorized to provide direct services and are not permitted to provide treatment advice or parent consultation as part of our ethical code.
LaBAs may provide treatment guidance but must be supervised by a BCBA for all assigned cases.
Balanced Behavior provides trauma-informed training and supervision (or mentorship) for all of our staff members upon hire and throughout the course of employment to support improved quality of services for our clients.
We are contracted with the following insurances:
Aetna, Regence, Molina, Coordinated Care, Community Health Plan of Washington (CHPW), Optum/UHC, Kaiser Permnete, TriCare & Premera
Additionally we accept private pay (Check, Visa/Mastercard/Amex)
We love working with other providers! At BB-ABA, we believe that Coordination of Care is necessary and highly supportive method for promoting quality of care. This may include working with Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP), Occupational therapist (OT), Teachers, etc.
A signed release of information will be required for coordination of services.
We currently offer mentorship services and professional training for individuals seeking support in providing trauma-informed services, ABA and ACT related services, Supervision, and business-planning for independent practice owners. Additionally, services are available for consultation for school groups and larger practices.
